    Dale MacEwan

Dale MacEwan   Dale MacEwan is a talented sensitive artist who interprets a world of haunting beauty. Love of nature and a remarkable sense of colour are two qualities that are immediately apparent in Dale's work. There is also an indescribable essence that draws you in and makes you want to stay for a while.

She has studied colour and design with many internationally known teachers, taking what she needed from each of them as she developed her own unique style.

A quiet, competent woman with a highly developed wit, she is a generous and caring friend. I first met Dale MacEwan in the mid-70's when she lived in Edmonton and we were members of the Edmonton Needlecraft Guild. We met again several years ago. Since that time we have shared many experiences and ideas. As colleagues we have learned from each other. As friends we have supported and cheered for each other.

Dale's work has been exhibited in Canada and the United States. I am pleased to introduce you to my friend and colleague.

"Windows On My Mind"

Dale writes:
I recently put the following quote on my design wall for inspiration:

Mind at Play by Carl Jung
"The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves."

More about Dale:
Instrumental music, which can be energizing or meditative, plays an important role while Dale is creating a new piece. Interestingly, the branching of trees appears in many of her quilts. Each piece keeps her connected to the earth and the beauty of nature. Her wish is to create a sense of place with fabric.

A recent move from Lantzville to Sidney on Vancouver Island has changed her source of inspiration. Dale plans to continue to explore the natural landscape through her photography, fabric art and sharing her knowledge by teaching.

Dale had a piece titled "Life's A Window" in the APNQ exhibition "Telling Secrets". Her piece has been sold at auction for $1250.00,
as part of an APNQ fundraising project.
