Exhibition - " Beauty Series " (1999 - 2002)

"Exploring the concept of beauty is a new interest of mine. It began when I became aware of how often I said that I had no interest in beauty. I decided to try to define beauty for myself. On a trip to Savannah, Georgia I happened upon the work of Emerson Matabele, a gifted photographer. He traveled the world taking photographs of people then matched his photographs to inspirational quotes. In a stack of postcards I bought from him I found several quotes about beauty that helped me to focus my own reflections on the topic. As I began to create new work I asked myself the question, "What is beauty?" and before I knew it I had a new series."
